Jeremiah 21:12
O house of David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
Jeremiah 21:12 belongs to the messages given during the reign of Zedekiah, even though in the order of the book it stands after some chapters that were written later in time. It is addressed to the house of David with a command to carry out just judgment promptly, without delay, in the morning. That same command requires active rescue of the person who has been robbed, delivering him out of the hand of the one oppressing him.
The failure to do so is tied to a warning that the evil of their doings will call forth divine fury that goes out like fire and burns with a burning that none can quench. Oppression and injustice in dealing with others are thus shown to be among the sins that brought on Israel's captivity and left the land desolate.
