Jeremiah 22:30

Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.

The chapter containing this decree carries in itself the indication of its chronological place among Jeremiah's prophecies. It stands as the divine marking of Josiah as the last king of Jerusalem who obeyed the Lord's commandments, whose reign ended in 607 B.C. With him ended Israel's observance of release years and Jubilees, after which the people, the land, and the royal line could no longer be redeemed. The prophecies surrounding it move from the restoration after Babylon to the greater restoration under Christ.
