Jeremiah 22:4
For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people. For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
If they indeed do the thing God commands, kings of David's line will continue to enter by the gates of the royal house in Jerusalem, sitting upon David's throne and riding in chariots and on horses, they and their servants and their people. The obedience required is to execute judgment and righteousness, to deliver the spoiled out of the oppressor's hand, and to do no wrong and no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood. God's promises are conditional upon obedience, and His commandments are given for the good and protection of His people, so that obedience brings blessing. Obedience to what God commands brings divine honor to the king and to his servants and his people as they continue in their place. Refusal to hear and heed God's words would leave the palace desolate.
