Jeremiah 23:24

Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

The verse declares that God fills heaven and earth and is present everywhere, so no one can hide himself in secret places from Him. No secret action can be concealed from Him, no one can escape His sight and knowledge, and no one can limit His presence. He sees each person individually and reads the heart, including what is concealed in the mind. His seeing of what is hidden belongs to the wider warning of Jeremiah 23:16-24 and Jeremiah 23:21-32 against speaking from the human heart while claiming His authority.

His judgment reaches beyond outward appearances and beyond human understanding. Therefore the true condition of a person such as Mrs. Harris cannot be covered up by others pleading on her behalf. The verse exposes those who falsely claim divine authority to speak for God, declaring that He sees and knows them. In its context it warns false prophets and leaders who speak from their own hearts, who promise peace to those who reject God, and who oppose those bearing His message, that God knows their words and works and will judge them. By contrast, true messengers must stand in His counsel, speak His word, and turn people from evil.

Because God is present everywhere, He is not nearer to workers in Battle Creek than to those serving in distant lands. People everywhere can therefore seek Him in humble prayer for the wisdom and judgment they need. They need not depend on a few human leaders to reach Him.
