Jeremiah 23:32
Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.
The Lord stands opposed to those who present false dreams as divine revelations. Such prophets cause His people to err and lead them astray by lies and by lightness, which is frivolous, common teaching. They were not sent nor commanded by God, so they do not accomplish His work and do the people no good at all. Their messages may appear sacred and imitate genuine spiritual gifts, mixing rebuke with flattering promises that deceive souls and produce harmful results.
Not every dream is from God. Ordinary dreams arise from daily life, while false dreams may come from Satan. Dreams genuinely given by the Lord belong together with visions as fruits of the Spirit of prophecy. Their genuineness is shown by the people who receive them and the circumstances in which they are given.
