Jeremiah 26:12
Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard. Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard.
In the temple, before the princes of Judah and all the people, Jeremiah boldly declared that the Lord had sent him to prophesy against the house and the city — the temple and Jerusalem — every word of judgment they had heard, faithfully speaking all he was commissioned to speak. Because he was confident his message was a commission from the Lord, he stood firm and faithful without intimidation despite threats of death from threatening high authorities, including the priests and false prophets who wanted him killed and said he was worthy to die. His courage in delivering the solemn warning commanded the respect of the people and turned the princes in his favor against the priests and false prophets.
By standing boldly he raised up defenders for himself, so his message had effect and his life was spared, whereas fear would have made his message powerless and cost his life. The warning was also a call to amend conduct and obey God, with the promise that if they did God might withdraw and relent from the announced calamity and punishment. Jeremiah further warned that killing him would bring guilt for innocent blood upon his accusers and upon the people and city, because God had truly sent him.
