Jeremiah 26:13

Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.

The verse is an urgent public appeal to amend ways and doings, spoken from an elevated position before a large attentive assembly of robed men and elders gathered in a grand pillared place, and pressed with a raised arm and emphatic gesture as the crowd listens intently. It was delivered as God's message while Jeremiah was defending his prophetic warning before the people and their leaders, at risk of death for having warned them, affirming that God had sent him with the message. The threatened judgment pronounced against Judah could still be averted if the people changed their conduct and obeyed God's voice. If they did so, God would relent and withhold the announced disaster, so His willingness to withdraw the threatened punishment makes the warning a call to repentance.
