Jeremiah 27:20
Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem; Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;
Nebuchadnezzar had already carried Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim with Judah's nobles and others from Jerusalem to Babylon, taking with them some of the vessels of the Lord's house. The verse belongs to Jeremiah's messages during the Babylonian captivity, given amid controversy between true and false prophets, calling Judah and the surrounding nations to submit to Babylon for the time God had appointed. It warns that the vessels still remaining in the Lord's house and the people still left in Judah would also be taken to Babylon. Submission to Babylon is presented as the lighter punishment, while resistance would bring sword, famine, and pestilence. The vessels and captives in Babylon were to remain there until the seventy years ended, when God would deliver His people from captivity and punish Babylon.
