Jeremiah 29:17
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
Jeremiah 29:17 belongs to the section of Jeremiah concerning the Babylonian exile. In that setting it shows God speaking against men who teach what is not true, who prophesy lies in His name, and who cause the people to trust in a lie. Such lying teaching destroys the souls who believe it, even when the teachers themselves are deceived.
