Jeremiah 29:22

And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;

The verse concerns Ahab and Zedekiah, two false prophets and teachers among the Jewish captives in Babylon. They claimed to be holy while their lives were corrupt. They spoke lies in the Lord's name.

Angered by reproof, they opposed the true prophet by stirring the people to discredit his words and to refuse God's counsel to submit to the king of Babylon. Jeremiah condemned their evil course and warned them of their danger. The Lord declared through Jeremiah that they would be delivered into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and slain by fire before his eyes.

This prediction was literally fulfilled not long afterward, fulfilling Jeremiah's warning. Their fate became a curse taken up by all the captivity of Judah in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab. The fact that they had many followers shows how lying words can win support and lead people toward destruction.
