Jeremiah 29:3
By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying, By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,
Jeremiah 29:3 belongs to the record of letters exchanged during the early years of the Babylonian captivity. That exchange included Jeremiah's own letters sent to the Hebrew captives in Babylon. Opposing it were letters from false prophets, addressed both to the captives and to the authorities in Jerusalem. The two sets of letters together reflect the ongoing conflict between true and false prophecy.
