Jeremiah 30:10

Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.

The promise was given in one of the darkest hours of God's people's long conflict with evil, when it appeared that Satan had succeeded in destroying Israel. It belongs to Jeremiah's written prophecies about Israel's restoration, and its promise of return from Babylonian captivity was certain. It comforts God's church with the assurance that the Lord was overruling the events of the present. It promises that in the years to follow God's people would have opportunity to make up for the past. It promises that God will save Jacob and his descendants from distant lands and from the land of their captivity and bring them back. It promises that Jacob will return to rest and quiet safety where no one causes fear.
