Jeremiah 31:38
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner. Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.
Jeremiah was directed to set down in a book the message of Israel's restoration, and this promise of the rebuilding of the city belongs to that written record. The instruction came very soon after the Babylonian captivity began, immediately following the exchange of letters with the captives in Babylon. In that book the assurance of the return of the exiles was made certain and recorded in plain terms. More than sixty years afterward, in the first year of Darius the Mede, Daniel prayerfully studied this record together with Jeremiah 25 and learned from them the appointed number of seventy years for the desolations of Jerusalem.
