Jeremiah 31:5 stands within Jeremiah's sure promise of Israel's restoration, assuring that the captive exiles would return to their own land. After that return the people would again plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria. The planters themselves would eat the fruit as common things, freely enjoying the produce of what they had planted.
