Jeremiah 33:10

Thus saith the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast,

The word came to Jeremiah a second time while he was still confined in the court of the prison. He was then held under close guard for urging surrender, as the Chaldean armies advanced for the third and final siege of Jerusalem, after his prediction of utter ruin had caused hope to flee from every heart. It was given to confirm deliverance and restoration to the faithful remnant still in the city, so they would not be left in hopeless despair. It revealed heaven's willingness to forgive and to save.

In the place described as desolate without man, inhabitant, or beast, even in the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, gladness will again be heard. That gladness includes wedding celebration with the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, and thankful praise for God's goodness and enduring mercy, with sacrifices of praise brought into God's house. This will be because God will cause the captivity of the land to return as at the first. That promise of restoration after desolation has continued from that day to this as an unfailing source of comfort to the church of God.
