Jeremiah 35:2
Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink. Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.
God directed Jeremiah to go to the house of the Rechabites, speak to them, bring them into the house of the Lord into one of the chambers of the temple, and set wine before them to drink. The offer was a deliberate test of their loyalty to their father's command, specifically whether they would keep the command of their ancestor Jonadab not to drink wine. They refused the wine, thereby demonstrating obedience and faithfulness to the instruction they had received.
Their faithfulness stood in sharp contrast to the disobedience of Judah, who had received greater light and privileges from God yet refused to heed His words of warning and reproof. For their obedience the Rechabites were commended and blessed by God, while Judah was warned that continued disobedience would bring judgment upon them.
