Jeremiah 36:14

Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.

Michaiah had reported what Baruch had read to the people in the Lord's house, while the princes were sitting together in the scribe's chamber. Upon that report the princes sent Jehudi to summon Baruch to bring with him the roll he had read to the people. Baruch obeyed and came to them with the roll in his hand.

At their bidding he sat down and read the roll in their hearing, and they became afraid and determined to tell the king all the words. The roll was Jeremiah's message given through Baruch to be read to the king, containing God's message to Jehoiakim in the form of the Lord's reproofs to ancient Israel, which the people would not receive. The king cut up and burned that earlier writing, and afterward the same message was written again with much more added.

Destroying or rejecting God's message cannot silence it but brings it wider attention and confirms it, while refusal of correction leaves those who reject it accountable for their choice. The verse belongs to Jehoiakim's act that God's people in the last days must study, because events in Jeremiah's day have counterparts in the present generation. This includes the warning to Battle Creek: as people with great light turn from the light and repeat the mistakes and sins of early Israel, they virtually repeat the burning of the messages of the Spirit of God while warning messages are repeated to them, and God will remove His Spirit unless they repent and reform.
