Jeremiah 37:18

Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?

Brought before King Zedekiah, Jeremiah confronted him over the injustice of his imprisonment, demanding to know what offense he had committed against the king, against the king's servants, or against the people. His confinement was undeserved, coming only because he had faithfully delivered God's warning that Judah would be handed over to Babylon. By contrast, the prophets who had assured Zedekiah that Babylon would not attack had been proved false. Yet those false prophets who had promised that Babylon would not come remained unchallenged, while Jeremiah was imprisoned for telling the truth.

In making this appeal Jeremiah pleaded not to be sent back to the prison, where he feared he would die.
