Jeremiah 37:19
Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land? Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
The prophets had assured Judah that the king of Babylon would not come against them nor against their land. That reassurance was exposed as false, for Babylon was coming against the land just as Jeremiah had warned. The question challenges King Zedekiah to account for those prophets whose reassuring predictions had failed. It sets their failure in contrast with Jeremiah's true warning that the king would be delivered into Babylon's hand.
