Jeremiah 38:1
Then Shephatiah the son of Mattan, and Gedaliah the son of Pashur, and Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashur the son of Malchiah, heard the words that Jeremiah had spoken unto all the people, saying, Then Shephatiah the son of Mattan, and Gedaliah the son of Pashur, and Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashur the son of Malchiah, heard the words that Jeremiah had spoken unto all the people, saying,
The verse identifies four officials — Shephatiah the son of Mattan, Gedaliah the son of Pashur, Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashur the son of Malchiah — as hearers of the message Jeremiah had addressed to all the people. Their hearing led to action against him, for his faithful integrity in speaking truthfully brought about his being cast into the pit. Yet deliverance followed, for God brought him out of the pit and caused his case to find favor with princes.
