Jeremiah 40:12

Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.

The name Jews here denotes members of the kingdom of Judah after the ten tribes separated. The verse stands in the historical portion covering events in the two years before Jerusalem fell. Jews driven out into all places where they had been scattered came back to the land of Judah to Gedaliah at Mizpah when they heard that a remnant remained there. There they gathered wine and summer fruits very much, securing a plentiful harvest. The episode belongs to the account of the Ammonite king dispersing the Jews who had been left in Judah after the Babylonian captivity. Their return and abundant gathering show the remnant becoming a rallying center, and so in the last days honest-hearted people from all nations will join God's remnant.
