Nebuzaradan Unlocks Jeremiah's Chains at Ramahby emmanuel_higgins

Jeremiah 40:2

And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The LORD thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.

The closing chapters containing the verse recount the prophet's personal experiences and his going into Egypt. Chapters 40 to 45, including the verse, come after Jeremiah 39:1-14 in time. The verse falls within the historical account covering the two years before Jerusalem's fall. Jeremiah's prophecies are not placed in chronological order because the manuscript rolls were gathered together into one book, and this displacement makes no change whatever in the teaching, while the chapter itself nearly always clearly shows its own chronology.

After Jerusalem fell, Nebuzar-adan, the Babylonian captain of the guard, acknowledged that the Lord had pronounced judgment upon the city, recognizing its destruction as that pronounced judgment. The calamity upon the city fulfilled what God had said through Jeremiah.
