Jeremiah 40:6
Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land. Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.
After his release from prison, Jeremiah chose to remain in the land with the remnant instead of leaving it. He went to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam at Mizpah and dwelt with him among the people left there. Those left in the land were the poor, whom the Chaldeans had left behind to serve as vinedressers and farmers. Gedaliah had been appointed governor over those who remained.
