Jeremiah 42:19
The LORD hath said concerning you, O ye remnant of Judah; Go ye not into Egypt: know certainly that I have admonished you this day. The LORD hath said concerning you, O ye remnant of Judah; Go ye not into Egypt: know certainly that I have admonished you this day.
The Lord spoke directly to the surviving remnant of Judah with a plain prohibition against going down into Egypt. That word left them without excuse, for it declared on that very day that they had been solemnly admonished. The counsel was clear and final, setting before them the divine will that they remain and not seek refuge in Egypt. Yet the remnant refused the warning and rejected the counsel given them. In defiance of the admonition they fled to Egypt.
