Jeremiah 42:22
Now therefore know certainly that ye shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place whither ye desire to go and to sojourn. The warning is directed to the remnant who were determined to leave their own land for Egypt contrary to the Lord's counsel. It declares with certainty that death by sword, by famine, and by pestilence would overtake them there. That destruction would come upon them in the very place they desired to go and to make their home. Their flight was an act of disobedience, and by choosing it they brought upon themselves the very judgment of which they had been forewarned.
