Jeremiah 44:28
Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.
Only a small number who escape the sword will return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah. All the remnant of Judah that went to sojourn in Egypt will learn whose words shall stand, the Lord's or their own. That settling of the question gives confidence that God's purpose will prevail.
The judgment is joined with mercy and hope for those who repent, turn from evil, and remain loyal. Those who rejected the Lord's counsel and turned to Egyptian idolatry will not be spared.
