Jeremiah 47:7
How can it be quiet, seeing the LORD hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? there hath he appointed it. How can it be quiet, seeing the LORD hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? there hath he appointed it.
Jeremiah 47 concerns Philistia, and this verse belongs to that message against it. It falls within the prophecies against the nations found in Jeremiah 46–51. It is also placed among the closing chapters dealing with Jeremiah's personal experiences and his going into Egypt. There it stands with prophecies that Egypt, Moab, Ammon, Edom, Damascus, and Elam would fall before Nebuchadnezzar, together with prophecies concerning Babylon and the doom of Babylon.
