Jeremiah 48:12
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles. Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.
The emptying of vessels and the breaking of bottles is God's own act of unsettling a people who have remained settled and unchanged. It portrays a divine disruption sent upon settled ease, in which what has been left undisturbed is poured out and broken up. The figure applies to churches that know the truth yet do not practice it and do not serve faithfully. Their spiritual ease and their failure in duty bring judgment upon them.
