Jeremiah 48:27
For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy. For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.
Jeremiah 48:27 stands within Jeremiah's prophecies concerning the kingdoms surrounding Israel, in which their doom is pronounced. In that setting the verse charges Moab with making Israel an object of derision. Moab had mocked Israel and rejoiced over Israel's humiliation, treating Israel as if he had been found among thieves.
