Jeremiah 48:28
O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth. O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth.
This counsel forms part of Jeremiah's prophetic message directed against Moab. Those living in Moab are urged to abandon their urban centers and take shelter among the rocks. Their refuge is likened to that of a dove building its nest in the side of a cleft. The warning anticipates the overthrow of Moabite power at the hands of Nebuchadnezzar.
