Jeremiah 48:39

They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.

This text is part of a prophecy concerning Moab, counted among the powers destined to fall before Nebuchadnezzar. It pictures Moab's defeat and humiliation, with howling over how completely it is broken down and how it has turned away in disgrace. In that ruin Moab is made a derision and a dismaying, an object of scorn and terror to all the peoples around it.
