Jeremiah 48:41
Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
Jeremiah 48:41 describes Moab's defeat in which Kerioth is captured and its strongholds are taken by sudden surprise assault. At that day even Moab's mighty warriors are overcome with fear and terror and anguish and pain and helplessness, like a woman in labor. This capture and surprise belongs to the prophecy of Moab's fall before Nebuchadnezzar. The capture and surprise illustrate the military power of flight, with the eagle flying over Moab in the preceding verse understood as an aeroplane serving as an army scout.
