Jeremiah 48:7

For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together.

Jeremiah 48:7 belongs to Jeremiah's prophecy concerning Moab, one of the kingdoms surrounding Israel whose doom is pronounced. Because Moab trusted in its own works and in its treasures, that reliance would not protect it from being taken and captured. Chemosh is the god of Moab, and he would go forth into captivity together with his priests and his princes.

The fall foretold for Moab would come before the mighty conqueror Nebuchadnezzar, with Moab falling along with Egypt, Ammon, Edom, Damascus, and Elam. The Chemosh named is the same god served by Mesha king of Moab, who was angry with his land when Omri afflicted Moab. The agreement of the Bible account of Omri, his son Ahab, his grandson Jehoram, and Mesha with Mesha's own record proves the Bible history true.
