Jeremiah 5:8

They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour’s wife.

The fed horses in the morning are well-fed stallions, a picture of lust and lack of self-control, a shameless and brazen desire that drives men onward after what is forbidden. Though made prosperous and fully provided for and well fed, the people turned that abundance toward adultery. Each one pursuing his neighbour's wife means each man coveted and chased after another man's wife. That pursuit was sexual immorality and adultery, each one neighing in desire toward his neighbour's wife.

This immorality was part of Israel and Jerusalem turning from God into unfaithfulness, persistent disobedience and rebellion, which the prophet warned against. That corruption corrupted society. It brings God's judgment upon the rebellious people. A clean diet apart from Christ has no saving value, for merely abstaining from meat does not free a person from this lust or bring anyone nearer to the kingdom of God. The same corruption is a present reality in the demand for the white slave trade.
