Jeremiah 52:3

For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, till he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

Through the anger of the LORD calamity came upon Jerusalem and Judah until He cast them out from His presence, and in that judgment Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. That anger and fall came after the people rejected God's word and persecuted His messengers. Zedekiah's wickedness and folly brought the city's downfall, and with the Spirit of the Lord withdrawn he blindly rebelled against Babylon, whose king he was bound to serve. Nebuchadnezzar, though driven by revenge, was the instrument through whom God carried out that judgment.

Judah's rebellion against Babylon and the resulting expulsion from Jerusalem came about under the Lord's anger against the people. The destruction of Jerusalem described in the chapter came because the people would not keep the Sabbath holy, after the promise that if they bore no burdens on the Sabbath Jerusalem would stand forever but if they would not listen God would destroy it, a destruction fulfilled within a few years. The verse belongs to the closing chapters of Jeremiah running through Lamentations 2, which record Jeremiah's personal experiences including his going into Egypt, prophesy that Egypt, Moab, Ammon, Edom, Damascus and Elam would fall before Nebuchadnezzar, and prophesy Babylon and the doom of Babylon. Those chapters lead to the lament over the sufferings that came upon apostate Jerusalem.

The chapter is held up as a warning that places that forget and defy God face judgment, as Babylon did. Its lesson that God-defying wickedness brings consequences when God's mercy and justice no longer restrain applies to cities and people who ignore God's warnings, including modern cities.

As the daughters of Jerusalem are part of Jerusalem and the daughters of Rabbah are part of Rabbah, so the daughters of Babylon are part of Babylon itself. This means that great mystic Babylon embraces all corrupt Christianity, and after she rejected the announcement that the hour of His judgment is come God left her and calls His people to come out of her before her destruction.
