Jeremiah 6:11
Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.
Jeremiah 6:11 stands where a people have shut their ears to God's word so that they cannot hear it and find no delight in it. In that setting the fury of the Lord, long held back, fills to fullness and can be restrained no longer, with the holding in itself becoming a weariness. That pent-up wrath is then poured out in judgment upon those who reject His word. The outpouring reaches the little ones outside in the streets and the gatherings of young men together, and it seizes even husband alongside wife and the elderly alongside those far advanced in years.
