Jeremiah 7:25

Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:

From the day Israel came out of Egypt until Jeremiah's day, and by extension until now, God continually and persistently sent all His servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them to warn, instruct, invite, and call His people to heed His message. This unceasing invitation was directed to His chosen people Israel. The repeated sending was needed because Satan was actively seeking to deceive people and turn them from obedience to God's law.

Yet the people did not listen or heed the warnings, but refused the invitation, hardened themselves, and turned away from God. In the parable of the feast, those first called who refused and all alike began to make excuse are Israel, God's chosen people. Had they heeded that call, which meant so much to them, they could have united with the messengers in giving the invitation to others.

Even when they refused, the truth and the blessing still had to be set before them to give them opportunity to respond and heed the message.
