Jeremiah Mourns Under Flying Storks After Harvestby emmanuel_higgins

Jeremiah 8:18

When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me.

The verse is a cry of deep sorrow, not light or passing sadness. It confesses an inward faintness of heart that cannot comfort itself against what is seen approaching. The grief looks toward calamity coming upon God's own people. That calamity follows their sin and their rejection of the Lord, and the faintness springs from beholding its inevitable result.
