Jeremiah 8:2
And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.
Jeremiah 8:2 stands within Jeremiah 8 to 11, whose burden is that the harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. It portrays a people who loved the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, who served them and walked after them, and who sought them and worshipped them, looking to them for guidance. For that idolatry their remains would be brought forth and spread before and beneath those same heavenly bodies. They would not be gathered nor buried, but left exposed as dung and refuse upon the face of the earth.
