Jeremiah 8:3
And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts. The residue of this evil family are the survivors of Israel, Judah's wicked people. They are those who remain scattered in all the places to which the Lord has driven them. They will choose death rather than life, regarding death as preferable to living on under the judgment that has come upon them. This despairing preference for death is part of the punishment for the people's sin and wilfulness.
