If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;
Preparing the heart means turning the heart toward God, and stretching out the hands toward Him means earnest prayer. This appeal to God belongs together with putting away iniquity, so that inward turning and outward reaching are joined with forsaking wrong. Those who thus prepare, pray, and put away iniquity receive the help that only God can give.
