God is the source of wisdom, and the secrets of wisdom belong to Him to uncover. Those who seek heavenly wisdom are taught to come humbly and ask Him to reveal what they do not know. The asking is for Him to show the hidden depths of wisdom and to teach His counsel and instruction to the one who lacks understanding. The verse itself therefore serves as a prayer in which the seeker pleads for God to reveal those secrets and to give divine teaching and guidance.
