Job 12:24
He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way. He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
Job was a real person, and the account given of him is factual. The verse stands within the poetic dialogue in which Job and his friends argue about the cause and purpose of human suffering.
He takes away the judgment and understanding of the chiefs, rulers and leaders of the earth. He leaves them confused and directionless, causing them to lose their way and wander without a clear path, like travelers lost in a pathless wilderness where there is no way. This is part of His rule over the affairs of nations and their leaders. He governs and directs their rise and fall, their decline and their course. Even the actions of nations opposed to Him are restrained and turned to serve His purposes.
