Job 12:3

But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

The verse stands in the second of the four parts of the book of Job, the debate between Job and his three friends about his afflictions in chapters 4 to 31, made up of three circles of speeches by each. In it Job asserts that he has understanding equal to his friends and is not inferior to them. What they have said he dismisses as common knowledge, resting on wisdom and observations available to others. He speaks out of exasperation, answering his friends sharply and asserting his own wisdom. He knew his own integrity yet could not understand God's dealings with him, but he did not on that account charge God foolishly.
