Job 15:26

He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:

The verse pictures a defiant rebel rushing upon God, charging straight into the thick protective bosses that form the strongest defenses of His shield. It describes those who persist in breaking God's law and who lead others to do so or urge them to it. By that course they challenge God's justice itself. They act as if to test whether He will punish transgression.

In doing so they bring themselves under the penalty declared for transgression. God's love does not cancel the consequences of sin. Christ's death did not abolish the law. The suffering and death of Christ, the surety for humanity who was not spared, testifies that God punishes thoroughly and will not excuse transgression, showing the seriousness of sin and the justice of God.
