Job 23:5

I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.

The verse is Job's longing to come into God's presence to hear His answer and to grasp its meaning. It is the desire of one who wants not only to speak but to know the very words of God's reply and to understand what God would say to him. This longing persists even while God cannot be found or perceived, neither forward nor backward, on the left nor on the right. Yet in that hiddenness Job holds firm trust that God knows the path he takes. That trust carries the confidence that after being tried and tested he will come forth refined like gold.
