Job 24:18

He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.

Job 24:18 stands within a larger contrast between two ways of life set side by side in Job's speech. On one side are the wicked, whose course is marked by taking advantage of the poor and defenseless for their own gain. On the other side is Job's own conduct, presented as a record of relieving need and defending those who could not defend themselves. The verse therefore functions as part of the description of the wicked in distinction from the merciful course Job claims as his own.
