When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:
Job was publicly recognized and honored, so that when the ear heard him it blessed him, and when the eye saw him and his conduct it bore witness to him and affirmed him. That blessing and witness were grounded in his righteous life of helping others, as shown in the following verses by care for the poor, the fatherless, widows, others in need, and those perishing. The same rich reward is held out to God's people now when they work together and harmoniously with God, earnestly, humbly, and self-sacrificingly for those perishing in sin and for the saving of souls.
Those who are helped will bless and bear witness to the workers, so those who labor together with God will be recognized and appreciated. Even when personal favors seem unappreciated, there are people on earth who do appreciate help given to others, and God sees every action, weighs every motive, and will reward every deed done for the love of Christ. That recognition of faithful servants takes nothing from gratitude and praise to God and to the Lamb, while Christ is acknowledged as Creator and Redeemer. Both the spiritual and the temporal good done for humanity by unselfish actions for the saving of souls will be recognized with gratitude in the day of judgment. Its fulfillment comes when the redeemed stand around the throne of God and those saved from sin and degradation come to those who worked for them in love and pity, fed and clothed them, and pointed them to the Lamb of God who takes away sin, greeting them with thanks for rescuing them when they were without God and without hope, perishing in corruption and sin and starving for spiritual and physical food.
