Job 29:24

If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.

Job's favor toward others carried encouragement that steadied them with comfort and reassurance. His cheerful presence lifted those around him rather than weighing them down. They listened to him attentively and waited for his counsel as for trusted guidance. Even his smile was received as genuine kindness, and the light of his countenance was not cast down by their unbelief or discouragement.
