Job 30:12

Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction.

Job 30:12 belongs to the record of Job's actual afflictions, not to parable or mere illustration. It stands within the extended debate over why human beings suffer and what purpose suffering serves. It is taken up as part of that whole discussion, with no separate exposition of its own phrasing detached from the book's argument. Sayings of Job's friends found in the book can be true in general while still being wrongly applied to Job himself. Affliction in itself is no proof that the one afflicted lies under God's displeasure.
